Syllabus from Spring 2001

Course Outline

The course includes 6 chapters. Five are designed for intensive reading and the last chapter is for extensive reading. In the first 5 chapters, students are required to read the texts thoroughly to understand the meaning of every word. Whereas in Chapter 6 the focus is on the general meaning. More than 20 different types of exercises are integrated in every chapter, including: comprehension passages and question formation exercises; vocabulary development, and understanding the relationships between words, sentence and passage completion; guided composition; and functional grammar exercises. At the end of every chapter that are test and self-evaluation.

Reading or listening to some Qur'anic recitations on a daily basis from the last 4 parts (juz').

Study Tips:

Study the objectives of each exercise well; develop flash cards, and read loudly until your family becomes tired of you; listen to the tapes well; especially the Seerah tape, #6, which you should try to listen to at least once a day; and finally; call your teacher regularly.
